Woodrow Wilson’s 14 Points, presented to a joint session of Congress in January 1918, offered a new roadmap for a more equitable and peaceful international system. The premise of this CPH project is that Americans should mark the centennial of Wilson’s 14 Points by renewing their commitment to pursuing and extending his transcendent goals. Our project presents 14 Points that address the fundamental needs of the 21st century. At our invitation fourteen scholars, policymakers, businesspeople, poets, doctors, and scientists propose solutions to contemporary challenges. Each demands that leaders and citizens alike recognize, as Wilson did, that nationalism, deprivation, and competition generate conflict. The antidote: work cooperatively on the basis of mutual respect and mutual interest.
